Plenty of people have trained alone for twenty years and done perfectly well out of it. If you've got a programme, you follow it, and you know how to load a squat, solo training works.
Training
We put the lifting before the workout. Warm-up, then strength, then the metcon, and that's been the order all summer. From November it changes, and the strength work moves to the back end of the hour.
CrossFit
Every workout here has a score. A time, a number of reps, a load — something goes on the board at the front and something goes in the app. For a nervous beginner that looks like a leaderboard, and that can be somewhat off-putting.

People arrive expecting an hour of shouting and burpees. It's a fair thing to expect from the internet.
Movement
Twenty-one deadlifts at a moderate weight, somewhere in a workout. The clock starts and within three reps you've made a decision that determines the next four minutes, and you probably made it without thinking.
Movement
Four bags of shopping and fifteen metres from the boot to the front door. Two trips or one? Everyone goes for one, and what gives out is the hands, then the shoulders.
CrossFit
Move- Lift- Work is on Saturday 10 October, here, in our gym. Three events — Move is the engine piece, Lift is the lift, Work is the CrossFit workout. Individual entries. Sign up on WodBoard, and entries close on 21 September.

You've been meaning to sort this out since June. There are several options within a short drive, the websites all look similar, and you've read them all twice without getting closer to a decision.
Active Ageing
What falls with age is your rate of recovery, not your capacity to work hard.
Movement
Front squat, halfway through the set. The elbows come down, the bar rolls forward onto your fingers, and the next thing you know you're squatting like a pooping dog. Everybody has had this. It's usually blamed on wrist mobility, and that's often not the full picture.

You've been training a few months, it's going well, and it seems obvious that the person you live with should come too.
