What Dr Amy George, GP Does With You

In a week the diary empties out, the routine resets, and people who've been meaning to sort their food out since January finally get a week shaped like a normal week. September, not January, is when the year restarts.

So — what the Nutrition and Lifestyle Programme is.

It's run by Dr Amy George, GP, who is also a CrossFit Level 1 coach and an HSN nutrition coach. That combination is unusual and it's why the programme is what it is: she understands the medicine, she understands the food, and she's been under a barbell herself, so she won't hand you a meal plan built for someone who doesn't train.

What it isn't. A diet. There's no plan you follow for six weeks and abandon. No eliminating food groups, no shakes, no weighing, no points, and nothing about how you look — we sell strength and capability here and always have.

What it is. A supported, structured look at the whole picture — food, habits, sleep, stress, and the way those four wind around each other in a life with a job and children in it. It starts from where you are. Amy works with you on what's realistically changeable in your week, then holds you to it — which is the part you can't do from a book.

Who it helps most: the person who trains well, eats badly, and knows it. The person doing everything right who can't understand why nothing's shifting. The person in their fifties whose body has changed and whose old approach has stopped working. And the person who's tired of thinking about it and would like someone qualified to tell them what to do.

The thesis in one line: you cannot out-train a diet that isn't feeding you. Muscle needs protein to be built. Sleep needs a body that isn't running on sugar at 10pm. Energy in an early class comes from what happened at dinner. Training and food are the same project, and doing one well while ignoring the other is why people plateau for years.

If you're a member, this sits alongside your training. If you're not, it works perfectly well on its own.

The week to decide is the week before the routine restarts, not the week after — because in the week after, you'll be too busy.
